Hospitals, What Do You Do?

Hospitals Need to focus more on what they can do for the communityI know you can operate, deliver a baby, administer chemo, take a picture of my brain, add pace to my heart and replace my knee but what about the rest of the story (thanks Paul Harvey). Does your community really have the full picture? Most of us go to the hospital when we’re told to or when we need to be repaired. We have basic assumptions of what to expect and for the most part we come out better than when we entered. But if I’m a hospital in a competitive market how do you fill beds, keep expensive machines busy and keep appointment books full?

What Hospitals do, matters.

What else are you doing that MATTERS to your patients, staff and community? The hospitals that I know are doing a lot more than most people realize (even their own staff).

  • Free care in the millions of $
  • procedure education programs
  • learning programs for potential healthcare students
  • community sponsorships
  • healthy kids activities
  • hours of caring staff initiatives
  • facility space donations.

The list really does go on and on. Hospitals need to let people know: You know what we are…but THIS is what we do! People like to connect with and belong to something. Create an environment for them to choose to do so with your hospital. They know you can fix them but let them choose to walk in your door because what you do as an organization matters to them.
