Your brand is a living, breathing entity. It gets hungry and needs consistent nourishment. When cutting back during tough economic times don’t forget that your brand still needs to be fed. Too often it’s “cut the marketing budget”. “We can let things slide for a while.”

Remember the farmer who started to mix straw in with his work horse’s hay to save money. The horse did OK for a while so the farmer cut out  more hay and added a bit more straw. Then more and more straw. His bottom line improved. The horse was hungry every day. His work slowed and productivity declined. Eventually the horse collapsed and died. The farmer went out of business.
